The Equalizer isn't new tonight, but the show will return in the fall

The Equalizer has brought another season to an end. The good news is we will get more of the Queen Latifah series, and it will return in the fall.

There is good and bad news when it comes to The Equalizer. To get the bad news out of the way quickly, there isn’t a new episode on tonight, Sunday, May 26.

The Equalizer Season 4 finale aired last Sunday. The ending left us one major question about Tory Kittles and whether he is actually leaving the series. It looks like the storyline of Dante moving to California may have been written in to allow Kittles to perform on Broadway, and there is a chance that he’ll be back at some point in the fifth season.

Yes, The Equalizer Season 5 is happening. This is one of those shows that was surprisingly on the bubble in 2024, but that was linked to Queen Latifah’s contract and the licensing costs for the show. As everything fell into place, the series was picked up, and this may be the longest season to date.

The Equalizer Season 5 will move to a later time

CBS has set the fall schedule, and there is good news for fans of this series. The Equalizer will be back in the fall, and it will remain on Sundays. It’s just getting a later timeslot.

With the success of Tracker, that series is moving to the 8 p.m. ET/PT slot—which is often around 8:30 ET during the football season. The Equalizer will move to the later hour. I did wonder if this would happen as CBS opted to pull Tracker forward an hour for a couple of weeks. It seemed like the network was testing the water with the time slot.

Will it affect a lot in terms of viewership? That is the question considering the linear viewership tends to drop off the later a show airs. Of course, Fridays bucks that trend with Blue Bloods being the stronger show of the night despite airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The fans can still show up. It’s just important to make sure viewers stay tuned in throughout the night.
