The Equalizer Season 5 will premiere in fall 2024 but at a later time

It took some time for The Equalizer to land a renewal, but it finally did. We know it will arrive in the fall, but the series is on the move in terms of timeslots.

In some good news, The Equalizer is coming back in fall 2024. This isn’t a show being pushed to the midseason by CBS.

The series is on the move, though. After the delay in getting The Equalizer Season 5, we’ll now get a slight delay in the episode releases. It’s not by too much, though. And it’s not necessarily a bad things.

The Equalizer will remain on Sundays in fall 2024

The great news is The Equalizer Season 5 will premiere in fall 2024. There is a chance that we’ll get more of a full season, as well. This will depend on licensing terms and Queen Latifah’s contract, but it is something that was talked about. For a full season to work, it meant a fall premiere was necessary.

The series will remain on Sundays. This is great news as the show has performed extremely well on Sunday nights. The bad news is that it is moving to a slightly later time.

The Equalizer and Tracker are switching timeslots. The new Justin Hartley series will now take the first timeslot of the night with The Equalizer airing second. When not pre-empted by football, that will mean a 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot for the Queen Latifah drama.

Why is The Equalizer moving to a later time?

It did look like CBS was planning this throughout early 2024. Whenever Tracker had to air an episode while The Equalizer was on a break, Tracker moved to the earlier timeslot. And it was performing well in that timeslot. Fans were tuning in despite losing track of the schedule sometimes.

CBS needs a strong show in the first slot of the night, especially in the fall. Shows are pre-empted by the football some weeks. Tracker proved to be a stronger series in the linear ratings. That was only by a little, but it was enough to switch the two shows around.

This isn’t a bad thing for The Equalizer. That 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot is still a good one. It’s the later slot of the night that is the worst, especially during football season. So, I don’t think we have anything to worry about for The Equalizer.
