We were all ready to get back into the fall schedule. There shouldn’t have been a reason to delay anything, and then the Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates came along. The Irrational is the latest series to see itself pushed out of its original premiere slot.

The Irrational Season 2 was set to premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 1. It was one of the latest NBC shows to return, but we were getting ready for it. After all, the Season 1 finale left us with a lot of questions about who had taken Rose and why.

Now we have to wait a little longer to get some answers and to see Alec deal with the situation. It’s not too much longer, but it’s still a little annoying.

The Irrational Season 2 will now premiere the following week

Like Fox has done with Accused Season 2, The Irrational Season 2 premiere has been pushed back to Tuesday, Oct. 8, according to TVLine.

The Vice Presidential Debate happens on Oct. 1. While it will air on Fox, NBC doesn’t want to compete with that. A lot of people are going to choose to tune into the debate as they figure out who to vote for in the upcoming election. After all, there will be some undecided voters right now.

Even if NBC wanted to run the risk, the execs likely know that this isn’t a good idea. To start with, politics is important and these debates are a chance for people to listen to both sides. Secondly, if NBC did it to Fox, then Fox would do it to NBC at a later date. It doesn’t make sense to have a tit-for-tat when it comes to politics.

NBC and Fox aren’t the only networks preempting things, either. ABC is also preempting the premiere of Dancing with the Stars. The three networks are the main ones to have debates, so they are all working with each other. CBS doesn’t have premieres or even new episodes of top shows on that date, so it doesn’t have to worry about preempting anything.
