There’s a new police officer eager to show off her skills. Toya Turner is joining the cast of Chicago PD Season 12.
Turner is no stranger to the One Chicago franchise. She has appeared as a guest star on both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. However, she’ll come to Chicago PD as a series regular, which certainly hints that Petrovic isn’t joining Intelligence full-time.
Who will Toya Turner play in Chicago PD Season 12?
Turner will take on the role of Kiana Cook, although the character was originally going to be called Yara Page, according to TVLine. It’s not clear why there was a name change.
Cook is a patrol officer who loves the adrenaline that this job gives her. She excels in a time of chaos, and she is ready to prove her skills.
Will Kiana Cook join Intelligence full time?
While the report doesn’t say that she is the new Intelligence officer to join the team, this certainly seems likely. Petrovic was never offered the spot, and the show hasn’t confirmed that she will be back. Upton’s spot remains open, and Turner is joining the series as a series regular.
This does mean that there will be more officers on the team than detectives. Upton was the last detective, and fans are ready to see Atwater get the promotion he deserves.
What does this mean about Petrovic in Chicago PD Season 12?
It looks like Chicago PD didn’t set up a storyline for Petrovic to take Upton’s spot on the team. It is a shame because she was a great, flawed character. However, it’s possible that Voight just wants to go in another direction.
Of course, it doesn’t mean that Petrovic can’t join the team. The team did once have an extra person in the form of Rojas, who was written out without explanation. That spot was partially filled when Torres joined, but then he took over Halstead’s spot when he left. So, could Cook take that spot and then Petrovic still come in to make sure there is a detective on the team?
Right now, it’s not clear. All we know is that Kianna Cook looks to take Upton’s spot in Chicago PD Season 12.
