What happened to Michelle Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles?
NCIS: Los Angeles may be over, but we’re not losing all the characters. LL Cool J will be in some of NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 as Sam Hanna.
In fact, we’ll get to see him revisit his former actions in NCIS: Los Angeles. He’s going to play an important role in the Season 3 premiere to get Jane Tennant cleared for duty. To do that, he also needs to assess the way he acted over a previous incident.
We’re talking about the loss of his wife, Michelle Hanna. That’s led to fans who may not have watched NCIS: LA to figure out what happened to her and what we need to know going into the premiere of Hawaii.
How did Michelle Hanna die in NCIS: Los Angeles?
Sam is a widower. While it was never mentioned when we had the big three-way crossover, it’s clearly going to come up in the NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 premiere. It has to for Sam and Jane to connect on a personal level.
Sam was married to Michelle, a CIA agent who handled some dangerous undercover missions. Her end came in the Los Angeles Season 8 finale. To secure the release of Tahir Khaled, a group of people kidnapped Michelle and trapped her in a portable freezer. Tahir was released, and Michelle was tortured as a way to get revenge on Sam.
The kidnappers, of course, didn’t hold up their end of the bargain. Michelle was never released, and she ended up dying during the incident from carbon dioxide poisoning after being trapped in the freezer for too long.
Fans of NCIS: Los Angeles did get a chance to see how Sam was dealing with the loss of his wife before the end of the series. After all, he went off the deep end for a while, but by Season 14, he looked back on times with her fondly, joking about how he was lucky to even attend his own wedding due to the way Michelle was a taskmaster.
NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 premieres on Monday, Feb. 12 at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
