It’s been a long time since Chicago PD delivered a heartbreaking ending. That’s what it did with the most recent episode, and it has to change everything for Voight.

Caution: There are major spoilers for Chicago PD Season 11, Episode 7 in this post

The episode delivered a blow for Voight. He’d managed to get Noah safe, and while he couldn’t help Noah on a trauma level, he could at least keep Noah protected from the serial killer. That was until he couldn’t.

While questioning a suspect, Voight got a call. Noah shared that Paul had texted him and was still alive. Noah needed to get out to the woods to find Paul, but Voight knew that it was a trap. The serial killer had Paul’s phone. Noah wasn’t listening, though.

By the time Voight got to the woods, Noah had already been taken by the serial killer. He had been killed and left in an oil drum with Paul’s body. It was heartbreaking for everyone.

What will Voight do next in Chicago PD?

There is no doubt that Voight is going to end up taking this personal. He wanted to keep Noah safe, and he felt it somewhat a personal journey to keep the boy safe. It was almost like a redemption for him after so many losses in the past.

Knowing that he failed at that is going to rock him to the core. It’s another loss that he could have prevented. At least, that’s the way he’ll feel. We know that there was no talking to Noah at that point. Voight had to be there at the house to prevent Noah leaving, and that just wasn’t possible when Voight also needs to keep many others safe from this serial killer.

So, Voight will need to not blame himself for Noah’s loss. He needs to put the focus on taking down the serial killer.

Voight has often kept things close to the chest. It’s time for him to start opening up, though. He is sure to continue the hunt for the serial killer to get justice for Noah and to clear some of his own feelings of failing, but he also needs to remember that there is a team there to support him. He needs to lean on them at times.
