Fans were delivered a blow at the end of SWAT Season 7, Episode 6. The moment from the promo played out at the very end, and now we’re left with questions about whether Luca will live or die.

To add to some bad news of it happening at the end of the episode, we know that SWAT is heading on a long break. Episodes are being peempted thanks to March Madness, and that means we have to hope for a few weeks that Kenny Johnson’s character isn’t going to die.

But there’s more bad news on top of that. Kenny Johson was demoted to recurring guest star for the final season. His last episode is coming up, and we’re worried about that.

When is Kenny Johnson’s last episode of SWAT?

Johnson’s last episode as Luca is confirmed for Friday, April 5. That is when SWAT will return with new episodes, picking up with everything that happened in the streets as Luca was shot.

When showrunner Andrew Dettmann talked about both Alex Russell and Kenny Johnson being demoted for the final season of SWAT, he shared that their episodes were still important and focused heavily on them. It was about bringing their characters full circle, and we certainly saw that with Russell’s Street. He had grown considerably under Hondo’s lead, and that led to him being there for his guys when their boss was killed in the line of duty.

What about Luca, though? Will his character really be served fully with his death? That doesn’t make sense considering everything we’ve seen the character go through over the course of the six and a half seasons so far. There is a chance that he’ll be forced to retire due to injuries instead, which will give him more time to focus on his family.
