The broadcast networks are starting to get back to some sort of normalcy. While NBC brings back its One Chicago lineup tonight, The CW has a new series. It’s all about Wild Cards.

This Canadian-American procedural seems perfect for fans of The Company You Keep. It follows a demoted detective and a conwoman who end up working together to help people. It’s something light to entertain us while the One Chicago shows remain on the heavier side.

The first episode airs tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 17. You will not want to miss a beat of it.

What to expect in the Wild Cards series premiere

The first episode will introduce us to the characters. We’ll meet Ellis, a demoted detective who is ready to give his career the boost it needs. When he arrests Max, a conwoman who isn’t afraid to scam anyone she meets, he realizes an opportunity to help the two of them.

Max can use her knowledge of the life of crime to solve local crimes. Ellis will help to keep her out of jail as long as she goes along with it. How afraid of jail is she to work with the detective? Of course, Ellis needs to put his trust in a woman who has proven to scam people. Is he the one being scammed now?

We’ll get to see how the two end up working together. This is a chance to see if their chemistry works for them to end up as partners in crime trying to keep the world safer one criminal at a time.
