Will Trent kicks off Season 2 in an explosive way

It's been a long wait for fans of ABC's surprise 2023 hit. Season 1 was a huge success, earning both a second season and star Ramon Rodrgiuez nominated for a Critic's Choice Award for his role as the title character. 

Fans are eager to see the follow-up to the Season 1 finale where Will rescued Angie from a serial killer and learned more about his past and how he got his name. However, the wait for Season 2 grew thanks to the actor and writer strikes paralyzing Hollywood in the summer of 2023. 

Thankfully, it's all settled and Will Trent is finally coming back with a premiere that introduces an intriguing new character, a big guest star and some new challenges for our quirky detective. 

What's coming on Will Trent Season 2, Episode 1

"Me Llamo Will Trent" appears to be taking place a few months after the Season 1 finale. Will has to figure out a series of bombings connected to a mysterious man played by former Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg. Meanwhile, both Angie and Faith have challenges in their lives. 

"Embracing his family's past, pushing feelings of grief to the wayside, and fueled by determination, Special Agent Will Trent charges into a web of intrigue to solve a new batch of cases. A detonated car bomb ignites a thrilling investigation, revealing more to the story than meets the eye. Partnering with bomb expert Cricket, they pursue the elusive bomber, setting the stage for unexpected romance. Meanwhile, Angie fights to return to work, Ormewood's home situation complicates, and Faith worries about taking things to the next level with crime reporter Luke."

There's obviously a reason why someone wants Gregg's character dead and only Will can figure it out. It also looks like he and Cricket (Susan Kelechi Watson) are planning to cause some combustion of their own.

The subplot hints that Angie is facing a challenge getting back to work after her injuries while Faith may be wanting a romance of her own. But the focus is on Will himself as it appears Season 2 is going to amp up the great drama and humor that made the show a hit and ensure Will Trent remains a top success.
