Will Trent finds its new ADA in Not Dead Yet star
Her series Not Dead Yet may have been canceled, but Gina Rodriguez is not spending too long out of work. She’s landed a series regular role in Will Trent Season 3.
The series is still being held for the midseason. However, it will have around 18 episodes, which will mean that it runs without breaks in the new year. Now that we can’t complain about!
Gina Rodriguez joins Will Trent Season 3 as a new ADA
Deadline confirms that Rodriguez is joining the series as a series regular. That means plenty of time to get to know her new character, who is Marion Alba. Marion is described as a “charismatic, confident Assistant District Attorney.” She is new to Atlanta, and she will end up having a negative first encounter with Will.
To be fair, a few people have struggled to gel with Will at first. There is time for that to grow, as Will and Marion end up working together to investigate the gangs in the city.
Deadline also speculates a romantic interest. There are plenty of Will and Angie shippers out there, but could Marion cause a few tensions?
To be fair, it’s not just Marion who could cause problems for Will and Angie shippers. At the end of the second season, fans were shocked to see Angie end up under arrest for tampering with evidence. And who was the arresting agent? Will, of course! This could permanently put the two of them on a break, leaving the door open for a new love interest for Will.
Rodriguez starred in the comedy Not Dead Yet. Sadly, the series was canceled after just two seasons, in a disappointing turn of events by ABC. The series was a great look at how people die with unfinished business and often need someone to help them get messages across to the other side.
The earliest Will Trent Season 3 will premiere is in January 2025. We’ll keep an eye on ABC’s plans.
