Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Professor T season 4, episode 3.

Professor T season 4, episode 3 opens with the police investigation of several burglaries, and a man, Tyrone, is found stabbed to death. They find out he didn’t die from the stabbing, but was strangled afterward. The police make rounds in the neighborhood, warning residents about the burglaries.

DC Highsmith took her National Detective’s exam, but failed. DCI Goswami has faith in her and encourages her to take it again. Dan takes the professor up on his offer to take his criminology class, but isn't impressed.

Jasper decides to hire a drum tutor: preferably male, late 40s, early 50s. Instead, Lydia, a young, attractive, thirty-something drum aficionado, shows up. She’s a free spirit who detects that Jasper is a bit uptight (the gloves and his draping of his stool with a handkerchief have something to do with it). She encourages him to let loose.

Will Ms. Snares figure out who Jasper's real father is this season on Professor T?

Aunt Zelda is still dating Peter Snares, Ms. Snare’s father—much to Ms. Snares’s chagrin. Ms. Snares sees the Dean and Jasper together, and her wheels start turning when she notices similarities between them. She finds the old 1971-72 Cambridge yearbook in the library, where she sees a chummy picture of Wilfred and Adelaide. Then her wheels really start turning.

The Dean finds Jasper on the roof (where else?), and tells him that he and Aunt Zelda had an affair in the past. Later, when Ms. Snares asks Wilfred if he and Adelaide ever had an affair (along with a lot of winks and eyebrow raising), he adamantly denies it. She secretly takes his water glass for a DNA sample, which she sends off with a piece of Jasper’s hair that she managed to pull out when swatting at a wasp on his head.

The team finds out that Tyrone, the murder victim, was a school inspector who closed down a private school operated by Harman Redpath. When questioned, Harman said he lost his life savings when the school shut down. DC Highsmith notices that Harman has a lot of DVDs from a charity shop, where Tyrone’s wife, Tilly, works.

Dan’s father (a new character in Professor T) hears a burglar at his house and calls Dan. Dan gets to his dad’s house, chases the burglar, and finds out it is a uniformed cop who had given his dad some security advice about the burglaries. Dan starts yelling at him for wearing his uniform, stating people have died wearing it--an obvious allusion to Lisa. The cop admits to the burglaries but denies killing Tyrone.

The case is solved in Professor T season 4, episode 3

Jasper figures out that Tyrone was stabbed by his wife, Tilly, because he was abusive. She called Harman to come over and help her afterward. When he got to the house, Tyrone wasn’t dead, so Harman smothered him with a pillow, saying both he and Tilly were victims of the same man, which is why he helped her.

Dr. Goldberg processes her feelings for Jasper with her therapy mentor. She admits that she saw him with Lydia, she was upset, but protests too much when her mentor asks if she has feelings for him. She says she just wants to help him move on and cut him loose.

In their next session, Dr. Goldberg notices that Jasper has cut the fingertips off his gloves to help him play drums better, per Lydia’s advice. She is surprised, and, dare we say, a little jealous?

Professor T airs on Sundays at 8/7c on PBS.
