If there is one character the Reacher series rightfully gave more to do, it’s Frances Neagley. Now the character is getting her own spin-off series, and there’s a lot of buzz at the moment. The Reacher spin-off series has started filming!
Maria Sten will return as the character, who originally appeared in the first season of Reacher to help out her former boss. She then returned in the second season, along with other members of the former military unit, to solve a case that involved one of their own.
Neagley quickly became a fan-favorite character. She is also a much bigger deal than she ever was in the books. It’s no wonder fans are ready to see her take charge in a series of her own.
The Reacher spin-off series is filming now
The not-yet-titled series, although we think it will be titled Neagley to match Reacher, has started filming. Sten told Men’s Journal that they have just faced a snowstorm, but the show much go on. They will all just film straight through it.
If this series films in the same location as the OG series, then that’s Toronto and surrounding areas, and yes, the areas were hit with a snowstorm over the course of the long weekend in Ontario. Areas still have on-street parking bans and weather warnings in effect as of Friday, Feb. 21 to help with the clearing of all the snow. It’s so bad that teams are out to remove the snow from piled up snow banks to other parts of the cities in trucks!
What will the Neagley spin-off be about?
We’ll get to see Neagley in action when she learns that a friend from her past has died. The circumstances around this friend are suspicious as best, and that means Neagley wants to get to the bottom of it. She will put everything she has learned from her former boss to the test as she figures out the truth.
There is the expectation that Alan Ritchson will guest star as Jack Reacher, probably in a similar way that Neagley came in to help him during the first season of his series. Their team-up was the perfect introduction for Neagley’s character and the backstory of the 110 Special Investigators.
The entire story is nothing from the novels. The Neagley storyline from the novels has already been exhausted. This gives the writers a chance to explore characters the books never have, and we can’t wait!
There is no word on when the Neagley series will premiere on Prime Video. Reacher season 3 has premiered with the first three episodes.
