Dana is in a fight for her life after the events of the previous episode. Will she survive in Revival season 1, episode 5?
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Revival season 1, episode 5.
The episode of Revival quickly picks up off the back of the previous episode. Em cried out for help, as Ramin rushed into the woods to find Dana close to death. Dana makes it clear to Ramin that Em “wasn’t here,” and he agrees with that. The main focus is on getting Dana to the hospital.

Wayne needs to get answers in Revival season 1, episode 5
With Dana at the hospital fighting through surgery, Wayne needs to get some answers about what happened in the woods. All the evidence currently supports the idea that Dana and the TA fought and tried to grab Dana’s gun, and they were both shot. However, Wayne is sure that someone else was out there, and he needs answers.
They need to get Ramin in for questioning, who shares that he didn’t see anything. He protects Em from being in the woods, but it’s clear to the cops that he’s hiding something. How long will it be until they managed to get answers.
Dana does manage to make it through surgery, but that doesn’t mean she’ll survive in Revival season 1, episode 5. Ramin makes it clear to Em that he didn’t tell anyone that she was there, but points out that he doesn’t know her. He needs her to tell him what happened in the woods, and why Dana got the text message that took her to the woods.
Dana is the one considered at fault in Revival
Throughout the investigation, Wayne knows that Dana is the one considered to be at fault in all of this. He doesn’t think that’s the case, but he doesn’t seem all that convinced that he needs to do something to prove there was another shooter. It doesn’t help that the bullets likely went a fair distance because both victims were through-and-throughs.
Em is desperate to prove that there was someone else without pointing out that she was there. She doesn’t want anyone finding out about her connection to the TA.
While he’s dealing with the investigation, he’s also focused on protecting people from the Revivers. At the end of the previous episode, he learned that Diane, the Mayor’s wife, is a Reviver. Rather than keeping it private, he has made it clear to others what she is. He doesn’t trust Revivers, and I want him to find out that Em is a Reviver to see if that changes at all. Will he kick his own daughter out? The Mayor brings that up, and Wayne says that he’d do it, but would he?
Em decides to turn to her roommate, sharing some of the truth that Aaron, the TA, was killed. She also needs help, since she knows that the bullet is in her body, but she can’t reach to get it out. She needs the roommate to cut it out, but now she needs to figure out how to make sure Wayne is able to find the bullet. What better way than to put the bullet back in Aaron, and then dropping another at the perimeter of the search area?

Blaine and his followers go on the attack
Of course, Blaine and his followers continue to be a huge issue for the town. They want to get rid of all Revivers, and they head to a Reviver support group to do that. This does give us a look at just how dangerous the Revivers can be, but in defence of one of them, he was provoked.
It turns out that the Revivers have some extra strength. So, when one of Blaine’s followers attacks one of the Revivers, the Reviver pushes the follower. It’s only a gentle push, but it’s enough to cause the follower to hit a beam hard and breaks his hand. Blaine’s followers have been led into a cult, blinding following him, and I have to question how far this will go. They are all literally willing to burn their right hands for Blaine and his beliefs.
Ramin also continues his research into the Revivers. He has one who he can test on, and he has found that the creek seems to be Ground Zero for the “outbreak.” His research assistants also decides to test snake venom to see if it can slow down the revival process of Revivers. Could that be a way to find out what happened to bring people back? Ramin isn’t happy with the research idea because it’s torture, and the testing has to stop here.
Well, the governor doesn’t think that should happen. She’s more than happy to see the testing continue. It leads to a leadership change, meaning Ramin is no longer in charge.
Who sent Dana the text in Revival?
We do finally find out who sent the text message to Dana. It turns out that it came from Andy, the mortician who saw the man jump out of the incinerate — the guy who actually did the shooting. Wayne goes back to Ramin for more information, realizing that someone else was in the woods.
To be honest, he’s found out that Aaron was also strangled before being shot. We know that Em did it, and I don’t think he’s dumb enough not to realize that there wasn’t a Reviver in the woods.
Is it possible that the Reviver stole Andy’s phone and used it to lure Dana in? That doesn’t make a lot of sense, unless he has something against Dana or Em. Was he trying to hurt Em in some way, blaming her for what’s happened to him?
Lester also goes to see Wayne with what he knows the night of the shooting. He shares that there was a man dressed in black with a ski mask. It’s the comments about the flashlight that tells Wayne that someone else was out there. He knows that it was a cop out there, and now he needs to run ballistics on every single cop. Officer McCray is the one who is found to be a match, and there's a severed foot in the trunk of his car. We know McCray didn't do it, so what's going on here?
With all this information, it does seem like this burn victim has figured something out. I’ve got far more questions about him right now.
Revival season 1, episode 5 doesn’t bring us many answers just yet, but we do get to see Ramin and Dana connect. There is something there, and I hope Dana continues to let her guard down and let Ramin in. I also hope it won’t take too long for her to tell him the truth about why he couldn’t tell Wayne that Em was in the woods.
Revival airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on Syfy.
