CBS is the first network to release official premiere dates for fall 2025, with the majority of them hitting in October. While this is later than some years, it’s on point with the fall 2024 premiere dates.
There has already been a big change to the schedule. CIA is now out of the fall lineup, with Watson season 2 taking its place. What isn’t leaving the lineup is the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country. However, there is a small, one-off change for this series, and that’s likely due to the way the show is going to be introduced.
Sheriff Country will premiere in October 2025
The Morena Baccarin-led series will officially premiere on Friday, Oct. 16. While it was originally set to kick-off the Jerry Bruckheimer night of TV for CBS, it will take the middle slot for the first week.
Fire Country season 4 will premiere on the same night, but in the 8/7c timeslot, and then it will lead into Sheriff Country at 9/8c. It’s highly likely that the two shows will combine their episodes a little, opening with a crossover of sorts. Fire Country season 3 did end with a major fire that has put lives on the line, and it’s possible that Baccarin’s Mickey Fox will be pulled into the story to support her family.
This could then allow her to pick up on a case, that she ends up opening Sheriff Country with.
Sheriff Country will move back to the start of the night the following week
CBS isn’t permanently changing the order of the two shows, though. From Friday, Oct. 24, Sheriff Country will air at 8/7c and then Fire Country will air in the hour slot afterward.
It’s not the first time that CBS has done something like this. When FBI: International first started, it opened with a three-way crossover event with FBI and FBI: Most Wanted. Despite originally intended for the middle timeslot, it aired at the end of the three-episode night as that was the more realistic way for the storyline to progress. It didn’t cause any major confusion for the fans of all three shows.
Boston Blue is still going to wrap things up at the end of Friday nights, starting from Friday, Oct. 16.
Sheriff Country season 1 will premiere on Friday, Oct. 16 at 9/8c before moving to the 8/7c timeslot after that.
