Sheriff Country's series premiere tease reveals the first crossover character (and it's not who we wanted)

While Fire Country and Sheriff Country may not film in the same city, some crossovers can still happen.
“Pilot” – Mickey Fox, a straight-shooting sheriff in the small rural town of Edgewater, Calif., and stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (FIRE COUNTRY), who must balance the demands of law enforcement with the complexities of motherhood, community politics and a past that won’t stay buried. When a young boy is caught stealing food, Mickey uncovers a disturbing case of child abuse that leads to a high-stakes rescue and a cliffside standoff that could cost lives. Meanwhile,

Morena Baccarin is stepping back into the shoes of Mickey Fox in Sheriff Country, which premieres in October. Despite the fact that it won’t film in the same location as its parent show, Fire Country, there are still crossover moments to come.

In fact, the synopsis for the Sheriff Country series premiere tells us that we’ll get a crossover moment right away. There’s a character from Fire Country showing up, but it’s not quite the one that we wanted.

Mickey Fox uncovers a case of severe child abuse in Sheriff Country

We already met Mickey Fox as a deputy in Edgewater, but now she’s been promoted to sheriff. That means a lot more trouble to handle, as many people turn to her for advice and help. She also needs to get to the bottom of the real cases, as sometimes, a boy stealing food isn’t just about stealing food.

That’s something Mickey is going to realize in the Sheriff Country series premiere. When a boy is caught stealing food, it leads to a much bigger case. There’s a case of severe child abuse that she needs to unravel, but it’s not going to be contained to a house.

The synopsis tells us that it leads to a high-stakes rescue and cliffside standoff. This could be why there’s a crossover moment with Fire Country, as something that involves a cliffside standoff could lead to the suggestion that the firefighters will be needed.

Bode is going to appear in Sheriff Country

Considering the Fire Country season 3 finale ended with lives on the line and the news that Billy Burke wouldn’t return, we’re all expecting the death of Vince, right? Well, that should mean that Sharon would want to turn to her stepsister, Mickey, for support. She would be the better person to come into the Sheriff Country series premiere to kick things off.

Instead, it’s going to be Bode. And maybe that will work with the cliffside standoff and high-stakes rescue. However, it’s just a little disappointing when we could see Mickey be there for Sharon considering the way we’re expecting Fire Country season 4’s premiere to go.

However, Bode’s inclusion in Sheriff Country does make sense considering Mickey’s personal life. Her daughter, Skye, is fresh out of rehab. Bode has been on this side of a drug addiction, and if anyone can help Skye, it’s him. He can offer empathy rather than just support and sympathy, and that’s often what recovering addicts need.

One thing that the premiere does tell us is that there can be crossover moments. It might be a little harder since Fire Country films in Vancouver and Sheriff Country films in Toronto, but there is a possibility of crossover moments.

Sheriff Country premieres on Friday, Oct. 17 at 9/8c on CBS before moving to the 8/7c slot the week after.
