You may have noticed a new crime show on Netflix’s new releases, and if you’re into lighthearted cop shows with an even dose of woe, Good Cop Bad Cop could be your next watch! The show, set in Washington State, follows the on-the-go lives of detectives (and siblings), Lou and Henry, who must tread the murky waters of their troubled relationship, and work as a duo to solve crime. The series sprinkles in lots of moments for humor but also follows the theme of family drama (Lou and Henry’s dad is also the police chief — go figure!).

If you missed this series on The CW, there’s good reason — the show practically tanked in viewership, according to The TV Ratings Guide. That’s somewhat of an understatement, because the source also notes that Good Cop Bad Cop was among the least-watched shows of everything that was airing on The CW at the time. The TV Ratings Guide also predicted that the show would be likely to cancel, but other evidence shows that there could be hope for another season.

Fortunately, Good Cop Bad Cop did much better on Prime Video, according to The Direct, achieving a 94% audience rating. After watching a few episodes, I think it could match this success on Netflix as well, although there are lots of competing shows and movies for viewers at the moment. If fans don’t get invested within the first episode, they may not continue watching.

Nonetheless, the streaming revival of this show could give some hope for a season 2 renewal. Star actress, Leighton Meester, always delivers a compelling character with both heart and wit, so there’s certainly potential for Meester fans, who may have missed the show the first time, to bring success with the streaming apps. If Good Cop Bad Cop does get a renewal, we’d probably find out about it soon, seeing that it’s been almost a year since it aired. I love to see a new concept do well, so hopefully there will be good news to come.

For those who do try the show, the final episode leaves room for a continuation. Lou and Henry uncover some shady family crime involvement, and they must decide how to approach the evidence: will they stick to their duty to uphold the law, or will family ties stir things up in their little town in Washington? Sounds like the perfect plot for a season 2.

Good Cop Bad Cop is now streaming on Netflix and Prime Video.
