Will The Equalizer go up against the Oscars tonight? (March 2, 2025)

It's Oscar night on ABC, but CBS will still have a new episode of The Equalizer.

ABC will air the Academy Awards live tonight, Sunday, March 2. That usually means that other networks take a night off new episodes, but that’s not happening this year. There will be a new episode of The Equalizer tonight.

The Equalizer isn’t the only show that will air new tonight. The entire CBS, FOX, and NBC lineup are as expected tonight. This could be a risk for the linear ratings, but with everything up against the Oscars, it means less of a problem than if just a few shows went up against the awards.

When will The Equalizer air tonight?

The new episode will air back in its new timeslot. We’ll get it at 10 p.m. ET/PT, straight after new episodes of Tracker and Watson.

This could be a concern for the future of the show, but there is more that goes into the renewal of the Queen Latifah series. Right now, there are negotiations happening, and there is a small bit of hope that The Equalizer season 6 will happen. As we previously reported, it would likely be the final season if it is renewed.

What to expect in The Equalizer season 5, episode 10

Let’s take a look at the new episode that will air tonight, though. The Equalizer season 5, episode 10 sees Robyn and Dante look into a fire at a home. A family has lost their whole life savings in a mysterious fire. In the promo, Harry points out that it’s $8 million up in smoke.

However, this fire doesn’t seem to be all that innocent. It looks like it’s covering something up, and now Robyn will need to get to the bottom of the situation. Was there a robbery in the house as well?

We’ll also get some time with Mel in the new episode. She will open up to her parents about her PTSD. I hope that we’ll see her parents accept this and help her. There is still such a stigma around mental health.

Check out the promo and synopsis for The Equalizer season 5, episode 10:

"McCall is asked to help a local family that lost their life savings in a suspicious fire. Also, Mel opens up to her parents about her PTSD."

The Equalizer airs on Sundays at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
