We’re coming into finale season, and that means we’re ready for our shows to come to an end. Okay, we’re not ready for it, but we don’t really have a say. One of the finales to get ready for is The Equalizer season 5.

The bad news is that this finale could end up being the series finale. Negotiations are still going on, and we had hoped to get some renewal news by now. The closer we get to the finale date, the more we’re getting ready for a series finale.

When will The Equalizer season 5 finale air on CBS?

CBS has set the dates for the finales, and The Equalizer is one of those on the list. It’s happening in early May, ahead of the finales of the other CBS shows. The Equalizer season 5 finale will air on Sunday, May 4, airing at 10/9c as usual.

The show ending before Tracker and Watson is due to those shows having more episodes in the seasons. The Equalizer only has 18 episodes, whereas Tracker has 20 and Watson was a midseason series.

What to expect in The Equalizer season 5 finale

The episode will see McCall and Dante head out on a romantic getaway. Of course, that getaway is interrupted by Salazar and his goons. The two will be in a fight for their life.

Meanwhile, Aunt Vi is ready to take the next step with Captain Curtis. This relationship has been so wholesome, and it’s great to see these type of second-chance romances. As that goes on, Delilah has a chance of getting into her dream university thanks to meeting with her favorite author.

It is certainly clear that this episode has been written to work as a series finale if needed. There is a big case for McCall to solve, which could put her life in danger, and there are some personal story ties to bring some closure. However, there’s sure to be enough open to be able to set up a sixth season if needed.

As we mentioned, negotiations are still underway. There is still a chance of getting a sixth and final season, and with the potential of a spin-off series, CBS could do with having both shows on to make it clear that it’s a franchise.

The Equalizer airs on Sundays at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
