First of all, try not to panic. While The Hunting Party is heading on a break, it’s not because the show isn’t performing or NBC isn’t supporting it. The upcoming break is something that we already expected, and it’s all thanks to sports.
Tonight, Thursday, Jan. 29, marks the last episode for a few weeks. The Hunting Party season 2 will head on a break for, at least, the most of February. There is a chance that it will return during the last week of February, but NBC’s full plan hasn’t been revealed at the time of writing this.
Why is The Hunting Party season 2 taking a break?
This break was expected. It’s all due to the Winter Olympic Games, which NBC will air throughout February. The Opening Ceremony takes place on Friday, Feb. 6, but there will be some specials to come on Thursday, Feb. 5, which means there isn’t room for any of the Thursday night dramas. Law & Order, SVU, and The Hunting Party are all being pre-empted.
The Winter Olympics is a huge event for NBC, and it’s not surprising that the network is pushing all regular scripted programming for the coverage. AS much as we hate it, the networks are a business, and sporting events pull in more viewers than the regular scripted programming.
In some good news, The Hunting Party is heading to Netflix during the break. The first season will arrive on Sunday, Feb. 15, so you can rewatch everything with your current subscription. This should be good for the series as a whole, as many shows have benefited from the Netflix Effect.
When will The Hunting Party season 2 return?
We’re expecting The Hunting Party season 2 to return on Thursday, Feb. 27. This isn’t confirmed as of writing this, but it would make sense based on the episode count we’re on and the date that Josh Dallas’s episode is going to air.
The Manifest reunion is happening during episode 8 of the current season. That is slated to air on Thursday, March 19, according to The Hollywood Reporter (it has mistakenly put the 18th, which is a Wednesday, and so easily done!), and that means working back that The Hunting Party season 2 episode 5 must air on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Of course, there’s a chance we’ll get the confirmed date in a trailer that airs after tonight’s episode. For now, just prepare for the break, and make sure you watch on Netflix to help to support the series.
