Sarah should have probably stuck to the rule of no talk about the case with Rudy in The Rainmaker. Talking about it led to her revealing some potentially important information for Donnie-Ray’s mom.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for The Rainmaker season 1, episode 4.

At the start of The Rainmaker season 1, episode 4, Rudy and Sarah talked about Kelly, but that discussion moved to one about the case. This eventually led to Sarah dropping the fact that Jackie was on “The Tissue Committee,” but she shared no other information.

Well, of course Rudy was going to use that. He needed to know what it was and whether it was relevant to the case.

What is the Tissue Committee in The Rainmaker?

We get an explanation of this committee. It’s made up of people from the hospital who look into various deaths that have happened. The aim is to make sure the deaths are natural, or to see if there is someone to blame for it, such as misconduct.

In Donnie-Ray’s case, the committee was set up to look into whether Pritcher killed Donnie-Ray or not. We learn from a conversation between Jackie and Pritcher that Jackie had been asking questions about what Pritcher gave to Donnie-Ray in the hospital. She believed that he had killed the patient, but the rest of the Tissue Committee didn’t believe that.

Why didn’t Leo’s side hand over the evidence?

In a court of law, anything that is relevant to the case should be handed over to the other side. This can end up as a double-edge sword. In some cases, a lot of studies and documents are handed over to bury the most important piece, as it then takes too much time for a small law firm to work through. However, the information can lead to the defense losing.

Leo likely knows that the Tissue Committee information is full of evidence that will support Bruiser’s claims of manslaughter. He keeps saying to Sarah that the information isn’t relevant, but if it wasn’t, then why wouldn’t he just hand it over to prove it? Why wouldn’t he hand it over with other irrelevant information to help set up the defense with a losing battle?

While nobody sided with Jackie, it’s likely that there is something written in the report that will support the claims that Donnie-Ray didn’t die of a heroin overdose. Now Bruiser’s side will need to hope that a judge sides with them.

The Rainmaker airs on Fridays at 10/9c on USA Network.
