Pritcher starts The Rainmaker season 1, episode 2 going to see his mom’s grave. I had to say that it was quick to get a headstone, but never mind. He promises to find out who killed her, because he’s adamant that he didn’t.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from The Rainmaker season 1, episode 2.

Pritcher has certainly been made to look guilty, and he’s also guilty of murdering other people. I do believe that he’s not killed his mom, though. He’s getting rid of people who have hurt him or are a threat to him in some way.

He’s also losing his mind a little. As Rudy and Deck break into the motel that he’s staying in, Pritcher sees them and decides to drive a car straight through the window into them. It’s a wild move that even has Ethan and Jane, the two spying on him, shocked.

Pritcher goes a step further in The Rainmaker

If only that was all Pritcher did! He decides to inject Ethen to knock him out and then take him away. Ethan gets Siri to send Jane his location, but it’s not going to be fast enough. Pritcher starts to shoot Ethan’s legs to get answers, but he has no idea who has hired him, and he doesn’t know anything about the fire.

When Jane finds Ethan, he’s aleady dead and Pritcher has moved on. Meanwhile, Rudy and Deck finally get to see the witness they were meant to question, only to find out that she’s been killed too. It’s clear Pritcher was there, so this man is trying to clear something up.

Bruiser is intrigued by the case

Bruiser has decided to take Dot’s case, but she wants Dot to settle. He’s also not happy that Rudy and Deck broke into Pritcher’s motel room. Of course, all of this happening has her intrigued, so she decides to sleep with Pritcher’s lawyer to talk to him.

First, they need to prove that Donnie Ray wasn’t on drugs the day he died, and the only way to do that is to exhume the body. Dot agrees to do this, and the toxicology report shows that there is a mixture of drugs in his system. It could be morphine, heroin, or something else, but this doesn’t help their case.

After Rudy tries (and fails) to get Dot to settle, Rudy and Deck head off to Donnie Ray’s apartment. The paramedics found him in the bathroom with his pants around his ankles, which tells Rudy one thing. Donnie Ray was using the toilet when he collapsed. There’s urine in there, and he decides to get a sample and get it tested.

Donnie Ray wasn’t on drugs. At least, that’s what that sample shows. It’s not admissible in court, though, but that doesn’t stop Rudy from trying.

Bruiser and Leo go head to head in The Rainmaker

It’s time for the first trial, and Leo, naturally, wants to move to summary judgment. Bruiser argues against it, but she’s not doing well with this considering the toxicology report doesn’t make it clear if Donnie Ray had heroin or morphine in his system.

So, Rudy tries, bringing up the urine. While it’s unorthodox, the judge is willing to listen to this, and she gives Bruiser’s side some time.

This pushes the CEO of the hospital to want to settle, and he’s willing to pay a quarter of a million dollars. Initially, Rudy gets Dot to take the settlement, but at the 11th hour, he stops her. She’s happy with that, but it’s a huge risk. Sure, Bruiser notes that there is definitely something to this case since the hospital was willing to settle so high, but it’s not going to be easy to prove Donnie Ray was killed.

It’s certainly not going to be easy when Leo’s side has people working for them to get extra information. You see, not only is Leo going to use Sarah’s relationship with Rudy to his advantage, he’s the one who hired Jane and Ethan.

Kelly’s story starts to come out

While all this is going on, there are scenes of Rudy getting his mail or in his apartment lobby, and he keeps bumping into his neighbor who he can see from his window. Finally, he gets a name: Kelly.

It’s clear that something is going on with Kelly. We get just a glimpse of that as she walks into her apartment and her husband is there. You don’t need to have read the book or have seen the movie to know what this storyline is, and Rudy is sure to get involved considering his own history with DV.

The Rainmaker airs on Fridays at 10/9c on USA Network.
