Rudy finds himself in need of Bruiser’s legal help in The Rainmaker season 1, episode 7. What exactly happened that night at Dot’s house?

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for The Rainmaker season 1, episode 7

Rudy really should have kept himself out of Kelly’s life, but he just couldn’t. And to be honest, he did the right thing to protect her, even though it means that he could end up going to jail. After all, that’s the way it’s looking, which could affect Dot’s case considerably.

Meanwhile, Sarah’s dad is in town, and it’s clear that there are some hidden comments when he mentions to Sarah how his first year at a law firm went. However, Sarah needs to focus on the case, and maybe even finding out the secrets Leo’s firm is hiding.

Rudy finds himself arrested in The Rainmaker season 1, episode 7

The main focus of the episode is focused on Kelly Riker, as she continues to enjoy her time and freedom at Dot’s house. However, it’s clear the two women have messed up by leaving the front door unlocked, something that Rudy notes when he arrives late one night.

It’s not surprising to find out that Kelly’s husband is hiding in the bathroom. Kelly tries to rush out of the bathroom, and the next thing we hear is that Rudy has been arrested for murder.

Of course, Bruiser is going to be Rudy’s lawyer, and that leads to her finding out that the story Rudy has told about self defense is a lie. It wasn’t Rudy who killed Cliff, but Kelly. And when Kelly is faced by Bruiser with questions about whether she’s going to let Rudy take the fall, she decides that he won’t.

Now Bruiser needs to get the prosecutor to drop the case, making it clear that they got a bad man off the streets. The problem is this is the prosecutor who put Bruiser’s father away for his crimes, but in a good turn of events, he decides to drop the case on Rudy and not press charges against Kelly.

With that, Kelly is able to get the money her husband left behind. This then lets her leave, but not before she fixes the box that Donnie Ray was fixing for Dot before his death. It’s a beautiful moment, and I would love to see Kelly return and be a daughter-figure to Dot. I think they both need each other.

Sarah goes on her own investigation

Meanwhile, Brad fires Jane, making it clear that she can no longer really do her job for the firm. Of course, Jane isn’t happy with the situation, and she makes it clear that there is something Jackie is hiding. She has a file that she took with information from the hospital.

While Brad doesn’t look worried to Jane, he does tell Sarah that she needs to go see Jackie’s ex. If anyone is going to know about the file and where it is, it will be him, and Sarah looks cute and young, so she’ll be able to get some answers.

It turns out that the ex is at the hospital. His wife was attacked and put in a coma during The Rainmaker season 1, episode 6’s attack, and he’s by her bedside as much as possible. Sarah doesn’t get the answers out of him, though, but he does have the file. Will he do the right thing with it to help put away Pritcher and help Dot get her answers?

Bruiser continues to search for answers about her dad

After dealing with the case, Bruiser goes to see the prosecutor at a bar. She wants to know what her dad was into, and while the prosecutor doesn’t tell her much, it’s something.

He thought Rosalie was dead, and that’s why he went after Bruiser’s dad. All they had was Bruiser’s dad and Prince talking in code, and while they couldn’t get much, they did know that the two were discussing something linked to the case.

It’s clear that Prince can’t be trusted, and so it’s not surprising to learn at the end of the episode that Leo hires him. He wants Prince to find the flash drive that Jackie had, and he is more than willing to do it for the cash being offered. With just three episodes left, we’re sure to find out very soon.

The Rainmaker airs on Fridays at 10/9c on USA Network.
