There is some disappointing news for The Rookie fans tonight, Tuesday, March 4. There isn’t going to be a new episode.
When ABC shared that The Rookie season 7 would be held for the midseason 2025, there was the positive news that there would be a consistent schedule. So, why is there a break in the schedule? Did ABC lie to us? Not at all. They never said there wouldn’t be any breaks at all, just that the schedule would be more consistent.
Why isn’t a new episode of The Rookie on tonight?
The lack of new episode isn’t to do with ABC spreading out episodes. It’s all to do with the news special that will air at 9/8c. The President is addressing Congress, and that means a night of news specials across all the networks. ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX will have a news special to cover the address. This is pre-empting all shows across the board.
This is going to be a good thing. I said once we got the early-January premiere date that there would likely be at least one break. ABC needed to put a one-week break in the schedule to ensure the finale reached the middle of May. There were just more than 18 weeks to fill. So, this presidential address helps with the schedule!
When will The Rookie return?
The Rookie season 7 is only taking a week off. The show will be back on Tuesday, March 11, along with Will Trent. All networks are getting back to normal on that night!
When the series returns, we’ll see Nyla in some legal trouble. James has been hurt, and it looks like it could have been gang related. However, there are also signs that it could have been a little more personal. When Nolan shares that he spotted James kissing someone else, the suspicion falls on Nyla. Had she found out and been jealous enough to hurt her husband?
We all know Nyla wouldn’t do this. She wouldn’t want to lose her children or her career. So, who really hurt James and why? This is sure to be the end of their marriage, though. I wouldn’t stand for that if I was Nyla!
