With High Potential wrapping up its first season, it means there’s a timeslot open on Tuesdays. ABC isn’t bringing something new in that middle timeslot. Instead, The Rookie is getting pulled forward an hour early.
The Rookie season 7, episode 7 will air at the earlier time of 9 p.m. ET/PT. This is straight after Will Trent, and the night of Tuesday, Feb. 18 will end with a rerun of the quirky freshman drama High Potential.
The Rookie’s time change is good for the series
This is a good move by ABC, especially since the network isn’t putting something else on Tuesday nights for now. The 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot is a tricky one. It tends to get fewer viewers than other timeslots, and not just on this network. This timeslot across networks across nights is a bad one. There’s a reason ABC, CBS, and NBC considered getting rid of it at one point.
The linear ratings for High Potential went up substantially when it returned from winter break in the new timeslot. We’re sure to see something similar happen for The Rookie. Yes, there are a lot of loyal viewers, but many would wait until the Hulu release the day after instead of watching live since the episodes end so late. With the earlier time, more people are likely to watch live on the night.
The Rookie gets an American Gods cast member
Ricky Whittle guest stars in the new episode of The Rookie, and he certainly has all the women interested. They can’t help but look at his body as he takes off his shirt. They need to remember that he’s the bad guy in all this!
It looks like he’s part of a gang that has weapons. Nolan and Juarez pull them over, and they are about to lose their shop in the altercation. This is going to be hilarious as they call in to share exactly what’s happened. There’s no way that they will live this down, and this is supposed to be Juarez’s last day as a rookie.
Meanwhile, Seth needs to go out on an undercover op. Lucy needs to have faith in her rookie, but can she hold it together?
