Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more intense, the president comes to town on The Rookie season 8 episode 2. Of course, that means there’s an assassin lurking in the corner of Los Angeles.
The Rookie season 8 premiere did not disappoint as it went international. It picked up with the LAPD on a mission to take down terrorists as Monica Stevens actually held up her end of her plea deal. We all thought she was going to renage on it, and sure, there were times when she likely considered it. In the end, she worked with the LAPD and FBI, and that meant a high stakes mission that was successful.
Now eyes are on the homegrown problems. The LAPD needs to deal with an assassin.

The president is in Los Angeles on The Rookie season 8 episode 2
The second hour of the season will see a conspiracy theorist ready to take down the president. Are we all that surprised? It doesn’t matter who the president is; there will always be someone who wants to take down the man in power. Just most of the time, people aren’t going to bother trying because they know they won’t succeed.
That’s not the case for the man on The Rookie season 8 episode 2. Not only does this man have the weapons to do it, but he also has the mindset that puts everyone around him in danger. He will stop at nothing to take down the president, including taking out a couple of cops.
The promo ends with bullet holes in the windscreen of Nolan’s shop. Are the two injured? The doors are open, which suggests they got out of the car before the shots were fired, but there’s a chance that someone was caught.
Mile’s instincts are tested on The Rookie
We’ll get a little more of Miles, as his instincts are tested. He’s in the car with Nolan when there are shots fired, so this could be when he needs to follow his instincts.
When the president visits Los Angeles, the LAPD teams up with the Secret Service to ensure his safety and assess any major threats on their watch list. Meanwhile, Miles’s instincts are tested, and Tim takes on a new role.
Meanwhile, Tim Bradford starts a new position. Honestly, we’re more focused on his personal storyline right now, though. The Rookie season 8 premiere ended with Lucy and Bradford officially moving in together, and there is hope for a long and happy relationship between them. Bradford needs to open up a little more, but there is hope for that considering how far they’ve come.
The Rookie airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
