With everything happening in another language and so fast, it’s not surprising that Amanda Knox was thrown off everything that was happening to her. In The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox episode 3, she finally realizes her fate, but there is a glimmer of hope now that she has lawyers.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox episode 3.
Up to this point, Amanda has tried to get by with her Italian, but it’s led to some mistakes. That’s not surprising at all, especially when the police ganged up on her and wouldn’t stop shouting in Italian. It’s not like the translator was even neutral to help with matters.
It led to her arrest, after she ‘confessed’ to her crimes. Even with her written recant, she still found herself imprisoned, along with Raffaele and Patrick. Why Patrick? That’s what she couldn’t understand considering she recanted the confession.

Amanda finally sees her mom in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox episode 3
Amanda’s mom had to jump through hoops to see her daughter due to their last names being different. It’s such a sad state of affairs when having last names causes a huge hold up, but of course, everyone was against Amanda from the beginning. In the end, the paperwork was cleared and Amanda’s mom was able to see her.
They didn’t get much time, though, and the police were listening in to the entire conversation. The latter makes sense, as only conversations with lawyers are privileged. The police needed something of Amanda admitting guilt, but they got nothing. All they could do was comment on how little empathy she seemed to have. To be honest, as a mother of a daughter imprisoned for murder, I’m not going to care too much about the murder victim and look out for my daughter, especially if she is insistent that she didn’t do it.
The meeting ends with them being separated, but we do learn that Amanda now has lawyers. There’s also hope of house arrest.

Amanda’s lawyers fail to get her house arrest
Sadly, it doesn’t work out. At the first hearing, which is more to see if the arrest is valid, the lawyers fail to prove that Amanda isn’t a flight risk. Of course, the arrest is considered valid because of Amanda’s confession. It doesn’t matter that she was railroaded into it.
Amanda is frustrated after some time with her lawyers. Even they think that she’s probably guilty of the crimes, so they’re initially treading lightly. In the end, they realize that they need to work with her if they want to succeed, and that means giving her a chance to tell her story. Of course, it has to be done in English.
It still doesn’t work. Dr. Mignini is insistent that Amanda was the one to accuse Patrick. It doesn’t matter how Amanda tries to say that the police put the thought in her head. It doesn’t matter how much Amanda shares happened that night. Mignini needs her to confess or give him something to work with.
You see, up to this point, he’s failing to make all the evidence fit what he needs. The fingerprints in Meredith’s room don’t match any of the three arrested, and there are other bits of evidence that don’t match up. Mignini is willing to ignore it all, sure that he has the right woman. It’s only when yet again he forces Amanda to say “because I thought he did it” about Patrick that he rests. He has what he needs.
Once again, we see how Amanda was blasted in the press, with the “Foxy Knoxy” headlines everywhere. We see how she was made a villain in the story, even though she may have been innocent. There was no hope for her, especially as Mignini was sure he had the right person despite the evidence not quite fitting.
At what point will Mignini realize that he has the wrong person? We’ll have to wait for more of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox to find out.

Amanda gets a new nickname making her a villain to the world
After the deposition, Amanda goes back to her cell to find it has been ransacked. Up to this point, she'd been told that she has HIV and that she should make a list of all her sexual partners. Of course, this is a ploy, and all her prison journals are taken.
As the prison guard tells her that the HIV test was a false positive (she's clear) and locks her in the cell again, Amanda decides that it's time to turn on the TV that she's been told not to use. That's when she sees what the world is saying about her. The prison journals with her list of sexual partners have been leaked, and now Amanda is known as "Foxy Knoxy." The story is twisting in the Italian police's favor, and there's little hope for Amanda.
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox airs on Wednesdays on Hulu.
