Tommy has to leave the 126 in 911: Lone Star season 5
Tommy had a big decision to make in 911: Lone Star season 5, episode 7. We knew she would tell someone she had to leave the 126, but we couldn’t tell who she was telling and why.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for 911: Lone Star season 5, episode 7.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Tommy knew that she couldn’t leave her daughters. However, she also didn’t want to make this into something to big. She didn’t want to give up her life for the sake of breast cancer, and she went back to work shortly after her initial surgery to learn more about this cancer.
Nancy wasn’t happy with that idea, but she went with it. After all, how do you tell your captain that they should go home? It’s not that easy. Tommy learned her mistake by the end of the episode, though.
Tommy has chosen who she wants as captain in 911: Lone Star season 5, episode7
The episode ended with Tommy collapsing in front of her daughters. They remained calm and helped get her the medical attention she needed, meaning that she didn’t die from the blood clot in her lung. This also meant that Tommy had to tell Judd and her daughters the truth, which means the word is going to get out around the 126.
When Nancy went to see Tommy, Tommy shared that she would need to leave the 126. This is likely just medical leave, which makes more sense than it originally sounded in the promo. She needs her health insurance, after all! But Tommy needed to make sure there was a new captain she could trust in place.
Tommy doesn’t want the 124 captain to come across. Instead, she wants Nancy to take that position, knowing that Nancy is ready for this. Sure enough, Nancy is ready to step up to the challenge, even though she’s scared. I love that she was so honest about that and Tommy didn’t placate her. Their relationship has been one about honesty, and that’s the way it should be.
One thing that I adore about this storyline is that we’re seeing women supporting women. It’s the way it should be, and more and more TV shows are bringing us this. Even Gina Torres had something to say about that to TVLine:
"t’s important to see women supporting other women. It doesn’t have to be competitive. In fact, more often than not, it’s not competitive. We understand that the way to get things done is to do them together."
