Tracker won't air a new episode or a rerun tonight, and here's why (Jan. 5)

The start of the year is when a lot of shows make their returns. Tracker season 2 won't return with new episodes, but we won't even get a rerun tonight, Sunday, Jan. 5.

“Trust Fall” – While searching for missing campers, Colter meets a retired police officer who believes a serial killer is on the loose, on the CBS Original series TRACKER, Sunday, Nov. 17 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/ 8:30-9:30 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+(live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. We would love to jump straight into new episodes of Tracker season 2 tonight, Sunday, Jan. 5. There is a lot of bad news for tonight, though.

While CBS is holding off a lot of returns for the end of the month, there are reruns of shows on instead in a lot of cases. That’s not happening tonight for Tracker, though. As much as we would love to watch a rerun if we can’t watch a new episode, CBS has something else airing tonight.

What’s on instead of Tracker tonight, Sunday, Jan. 5?

Tracker won’t return with new episodes until February 2025. That’s due to the way Sundays are taken up by award shows and football throughout the month. Even when the networks aren’t airing the award shows or football themselves, they won’t put on shows up against them this time of the year. This is when reruns come in handy.

CBS won’t air a rerun because it does have an award show to air tonight. It’s all about the Golden Globes tonight, Sunday, Jan. 5. They will air throughout the night, bringing us the awards for best actor and actress, best director, and best movie of last year. CBS can’t air two things at once, and the Golden Globes is always going to win.

Ontological Shock
“Ontological Shock” – When Colter suddenly disappears during his search for a missing father, Reenie recruits his brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles), for help, on the CBS Original series TRACKER, Sunday, Oct. 20 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. When will Tracker return with new episodes?

Sunday shows aren’t returning in January. As we previously reported, Tracker season 2 will return with new episodes starting Sunday, Feb. 16. This is the week after the Super Bowl, which makes a lot of sense considering the way shows would have to be on and off throughout this time of year.

It doesn’t look like CBS is planning reruns of the series on Sundays just yet. On Sunday, Jan. 12, the network is opting for a night of NCIS: Origins reruns, giving the new series a boost in the ratings before its return at the end of the month.

If you want to watch the Justin Hartley show, you’ll need to turn to Paramount+. This is where all episodes of the series so far are streaming, and you can get caught up all the way to the season 2 fall finale before the return of the series next month.

Tracker returns on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.
