Tracker is losing 2 main characters (and it's such a disappointing waste)

Tracker season 3 will still premiere in October, but it will be without two OG cast members. The writing was on the wall for at least one of these cast members, and it’s such a shame.

I will say that I don’t think the series knew what to do with some characters. Having Colter Shaw as a lone-wolf character who doesn’t interact with the rest of the main cast puts all other storylines at a disadvantage, so I’m not surprised to see two OG cast members leave, but I’ll be sad to see them go.

Tracker season 3 will be without Bobby and Velma

Many fans worried during Tracker season 2 that Eric Graise was leaving the show. Well, while that didn’t happen in the second season, it is happening in Tracker season 3. TVLine confirmed both he and Abby McEnany will not appear in the new season.

Yes, that means Velma is gone as well. This is the one that’s the least surprising considering the lack of appearances from Velma throughout the second season. In the first season, we got to see Velma interact a lot with her wife, Teddi, played by Robin Weigert. Then Weigert left suddenly in between the first two seasons, and it was like the series didn’t really know what to do with Velma after that.

What’s a shame is that there were plenty of storylines that could have been done. Velma was Colter’s handler, so we could have seen her find plenty of cases for him to handle and there could have been ways for her to interact with him on a more personal level. Even if it wasn’t Colter, why not Reenie?

As for Bobby, this is slightly different, as Graise stepped away from Tracker season 2, and Bobby’s absence was explained in the show. It led to his cousin showing up, played by Chris Lee. We know Randy will be a part of the third season, so Colter will still have his tech support. With that change, it seemed like the writing was on the wall for Bobby to leave permanently.

Will Velma and Bobby get their goodbyes?

Now the question is how the two will be written out. Will we at least get to say goodbye to them? That’s unlikely, and Tracker season 3 will likely go the way that so many other shows have gone. We’ll find out about the departures via a one-off comment.

Randy is likely to deliver the reason Bobby is gone, while Reenie will likely share the reason Velma is gone. In a way, I hope they write it in that Velma and Teddi are giving their marriage another go, because I never felt like they should have separated.

We’ll have to wait and see, though. Tracker season 3 will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 8/7c on CBS.
