CBS loves to bulk renew shows, and that happened on Thursday, Feb. 20. Nine shows were renewed for the 2025–2026 season, and Tracker was one of them.
We’ll get another season of Colter Shaw’s story. It’s really not that surprising when you consider that this remains the show’s No. 1 series. In fact, CBS says that it is the No. 1 entertainment series in its press release announcing the renewals.
The series joins the three current NCIS shows, Elsbeth, and much more in renewals. However, fellow Sunday night dramas Watson and The Equalizer haven’t been renewed yet.
When could Tracker season 3 premiere on CBS?
Eyes are now on when we’ll get to watch the new season. We know that it is coming in the 2025–2026 season, but CBS hasn’t confirmed any release dates. CBS will announce the fall schedule in May and then we’ll get premiere dates in June or July. This is still early days.
We are expecting to see this show return in the fall, though. It’s a strong show for Sunday nights, which sees pre-emption during the football season. If a series can manage to keep its viewers when it changes from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET week after week with little consistency, it’s the sign of a show to keep bringing back in that timeslot.
What to expect in Tracker season 3
It’s clear that this series has been packed with great cases for Colter to deal with. We’ve seen him take on the odd case that didn’t include a reward when it was for a friend, but he thrives through the money he gains from the rewards. He still has a heart, though, and we’ve seen that with his white whale case so far. He can’t stop looking for Gina Pickett.
We’re sure to see that case come to an end by the end of the second season. It may not be in a positive way, but there should be some sort of closure for Colter. That will allow for a different season-long arc for Colter in the third season. Could it go back to his family mystery that took up the first season and never brought us full answers?
Only time will tell. We’ll have a bit more to work with when the second season ends in (likely) May.
Tracker currently airs on Sundays at 8/7c on CBS. Stream the following day on Paramount+.
