If you partied a little too hard to say goodbye to 2025, there’s no doubt that you’re nursing a hangover today. That means you need something good to relax to on New Year’s Day 2026, and we have some great TV crime dramas to check out.
There is something for all interests when it comes to crime dramas. After all, some of us love the gory psychological shows, and others want to delve into true crime. Then there are others who want something lighter in the form of a murder mystery.
So, here we are with five great picks for TV crime dramas for the day. We’ve opted for shorter options to give you time to get through all episodes of a show in one day.
The Hunting Party
With The Hunting Party season 2 premiering very soon, you’ll want to check out the first season. The series follows a team that is put together to capture serial killers. However, these are nothing like the serial killers the BAU would face on Criminal Minds. They are killers the world believes have been killed, but really, they were kept in a silo and “treated.”
Now they’re out, and they’re more dangerous than ever. It’s going to take a special team to capture them without the world knowing, but what happens when that team starts asking questions. After all, what happened in The Pit, the place the serial killers were, and why did it explode when it did?
The Hunting Party is available to stream on Peacock, with season 2 premiering on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10/9c on NBC.
The Night Manager
How about a season that has been a long time in the making? Yes, The Night Manager is back, and the second season dropped today! If you already got caught up on the first season, then you’ll want to delve straight into the second. If it’s been a while since the first season — it’s been 10 years! — then you’ll need to watch that first.
Jonathan Pine is the night manager of one of Cairo’s luxury hotels. As a former British soldier, he has the skills to protect the wealthy, but he also has the skills for something else. When the Foreign Office tasks him with investigating and illegal arms sale, he finds himself thrown into the world of espionage and danger in a way most of us could only imagine.
The Night Manager is available to stream on Prime Video.
The Residence
For those who want something a little more quirky, The Residence is the show to turn to. Yes, we’re still salty that it was canceled, but the first season is a great binge-watch as you nurse your hangover. It’s still funny and there’s an Agatha Christie-style mystery to solve.
The Residence follows Cordelia Cupp, an eccentric detective who is tasked with a murder of a lifetime: to figure out who killed someone at the White House. Of course, that means some top secret clearance is needed, but not everyone wants to reveal their hand or their information. Just how will Cordelia get on with her job?
The Residence is available to stream on Netflix.
Run Away
Want a new show to check out? You’re in luck, because a new Harlan Coben series has dropped on Netflix today. It’s all about Run Away, which stars James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones. It’s another miniseries, so you can get invested without worrying about never getting answers.
Nesbitt plays Simon Greene, a man who is just after answers when his daughter runs away. He just needs to know where she’s gone, but we all know Coben novels. They end up twisty and dangerous. Not everyone is as they seem, even the main character!
Run Away is available to stream on Netflix.
Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke
If you missed the true crime docuseries about Ruby Franke, now is your chance to catch up on it. Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke delves into who Franke was, who her family was, and the events that led to her downfall. We get a look at interviews with Franke’s ex-husband, Kevin, and their two older children, Sheri and Chad.
This offers a deeper insight into everything that happened when publications reported what they could. It’s also more than just a look at Franke’s actions, but also the dangerous world of YouTube. After all, Franke pushed her children to become YouTube creators, something that they weren’t interested in and didn’t have a choice about, and soon, that push turned into abuse on a multitude of levels.
Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke is available to stream on Hulu.
