On Unforgotten, the team questions Marty again over Gerry’s death. He said Gerry told him that vaccines were part of a plot to control them, so Marty told his family not to take the vaccine, and they refused it. His dad later got Covid and died, but Marty denied being angry at Gerry at the time.
Mel’s background surfaces. She was dismissed from the Navy due to a disciplinary issue, then lost her apartment with an Asian landlord. She wrote an online rant as “Sister Mel” and started working with Gerry on his alt-right site United UK. The team finds out she spent six months in a convent, but she was never really a nun. After Boris Johnson retweeted one of her posts, her fame rose.
Sunny and Jess confront her about the fact that people thought she and Gerry were having an affair. She reluctantly admitted to it, saying it was only a brief fling. Mel said she didn’t even know he went missing until a friend told her. She denies they ever fought, and he was never violent with her. But Jess and Sunny don’t buy it.

Mel's lies come to light in Unforgotten season 6, episode 4
The team find texts between Mel and Gerry, during the time of their relationship, and it appears much longer than she admitted to. The later texts show that Mel might have been trying to blackmail Gerry, and he threatened her.
Sunny and Jess show up at Sam’s apartment to question Asif about his relationship with Gerry when he was a translator for Gerry’s Afghan tenants. Asif said Gerry could be aggressive with vulnerable tenants, but does not remember any other history with him.
It comes to light that Marty had a history of picking the locks of fellow students’ rooms in college. They would report finding Marty sitting on their beds, saying he wanted to be friends. Marty tried to strangle one of the students who confronted him at the time, but he was never arrested.
Taylor asks Juliet if she killed Gerry, but she denies it. Taylor said she heard them fighting the night Gerry disappeared. Juliet asks her to never mention it to the police, for fear they would come to the wrong conclusion. Later, Juliet is invited to meet the board at her college, because her boss says they want to and offer her early retirement to solve the dispute between her and her student, Liz.

Sam apologizes to Asif, saying he forgot what Asif went through, and understands his anger over Hassan. The Immigration Enforcement Agency shows up where Hassan is working, and there is a raid. They later come to Sam’s apartment with a search warrant. Sam gets taken to the station with Asif, and they ask Asif for a DNA swab.
Jess and Sunny continue to bond over their relationship problems. Sunny sees Leanne after she ghosted him, and he asks her if she got his voicemail, and she said yes, but was busy, so she didn’t call him back. She said she’d call him, but didn’t look too happy about it.
Fran goes to Marty’s house to swab him for DNA. Later, Doreen, the health aid, comes over, but Marty’s locked her out. She calls the police, and they find Dot unconscious in the house. Marty runs away to the beach after popping a lot of pills.
Juliet goes to the station and tells Jess that Taylor, who was 11 at the time, once came home and found a man in their apartment, saying he wanted to hurt her dad like Gerry had hurt him. She didn’t report it because she didn’t want to get him into trouble. It was Marty Baines.
