Sergeant Hank Voight is certainly going to have a troublesome start to the season in the Chicago PD season 13 premiere. It all leads to him going on the hunt for a killer and taking potentially drastic steps to do that.

The Chicago PD season 13 picks up not too long after the season 12 finale, which saw Voight already take some drastic steps to get rid of a threat. It didn’t take long for ASA Chapman to work out that Voight had arranged for Deputy Chief Reid to be killed. This saved Intelligence, but it went against everything Chapman stands for.

Well, it looks like Intelligence is starting to work it out, and they’re not happy about his actions either. This is likely the way Kiana Cook will be written out, with a line about her unable to work with someone who would act outside of the law. It’s a little hypocritical considering she worked with Torres and Burgess after they acted outside of the law, though!

Chicago PD season 13 sees Voight work with an unexpected person

The synopsis for the Chicago PD season 13 premiere teases a bit of what to expect in the episode. We learn that Voight is going after a killer, but he’s also struggling to keep Intelligence together. This isn’t because of Reid being a threat, but because of how they view Voight after Chicago PD season 12’s finale.

So, it means Voight needs to team up with someone else. That’s an “unexpected ally,” but it’s hard to tell if it’s someone else within the CPD or if it’s someone outside of that.

We know from images that we’ll meet Arienne Mandi’s Eva Imani, who is in an ATF vest. It would make sense for Voight to team up with her to get the killer off the streets, knowing that he doesn’t usually like to work with other agencies.

This is a great way to bring Eva into the story and have Voight see what she can do. With a space open on Intelligence with Cook’s exit, Voight could decide to open the spot to Eva after the events of the premiere.

Will Voight admit to what he did in Chicago PD?

While Chapman told Voight that she’d worked out what he did, he didn’t arguably admit to it. His silence said everything, though, and it won’t take long for Intelligence to figure out the truth either. The question is whether Voight will admit to it when it comes to the rest of the team.

Voight is one of those who will always keep secrets of his own, but he wants the team to tell him their secrets. This is so that he can take action to protect them; action he knows that they won’t want him to take. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if he continued to try to cover up what he did, leading to the team being fractured.

Out of all of them, it’s likely Torres who will struggle the most. Burgess, Atwater, and Ruzek have all worked with Voight long enough to know the type of cop he is. While he has changed over the years, Voight has never fully changed his stripes, and they know that. Torres didn’t know the Voight of the past, just like Cook, so he may be the one struggling to accept Voight’s actions.
