The SVU team never has an easy case, but the one in the Law & Order: SVU season 26 finale is going to bring a far more difficult one. It’s a case that involves a serial killer, and it feels like something that should be in Criminal Minds rather than Law & Order.
You won’t want to miss a beat of this case, as the team figures out what is going on and then Carisi focuses on getting justice for the victims. However, this brings us to the end of the show for a season, and we need to wait some time for a new season. At least we know that Law & Order: SVU season 27 is officially happening.
How to watch the Law & Order season 26 finale live

If you happen to miss it live, we have some great news. It airs on Peacock the following day.

What to expect in Law & Order: SVU season 26, episode 22
The new episode will see the SVU team deal with a serial killer. All the victims appear to be therapists, and someone is killing them, removing their eyes, and posing them. This is clear symbolism, which Benson notes in the promo for the episode.
We know that this episode is going to lead to the exits of both Silva and Velasco, as the two are leaving the series ahead of season 27. It’s not clear if we’ll get some exit storylines, but the synopsis does tell us that the squad is celebrating a promotion. Hopefully, that will be one of the two characters leaving, giving us a positive and focused storyline.
Check out the promo and synopsis for the Law & Order: SVU season 26 finale:
"Benson investigates a string of sexual assaults targeting local female psychiatrists; the squad celebrates a promotion."
There’s more to come from Law & Order: SVU in season 27
Now we’re getting ready for the summer hiatus, and that means we need to know whether there’s going to be more to the story or not. Will we only have a break or is this it for the SVU team for good? Well, NBC gave us the great news that Law & Order: SVU season 27 will happen.
While the Dick Wolf shows are going to see some changes to trim budgets, SVU doesn’t need to go through as many as other shows as the show’s production costs are already on the lower side. However, it’s unclear if both exiting characters will be replaced or if we’ll just see one new team member join.
Law & Order: SVU is available to stream on Peacock.
