The end of High Potential season 1 brought us the news we’d waited for. Roman is still alive. Now I have one major question. Why wouldn’t he have returned to his family?
Gio wasn’t happy that Karadec went to see him instead of Morgan. Gio had already made it clear that he didn’t want to work with the cops. The only way that he would give Morgan any information would be via her only. If the cops got involved, he was out.
Well, Gio tried to shut the door when Karadec turned up at the apartment. He made it clear that he didn’t want his son visiting him while he was locked up. However, it’s clear that he was also worried about people outside of the law.
Did Roman get dragged into something dangerous in High Potential?
Throughout the first season, we got hints that Roman had found himself mixed up in something dangerous. That was how he ended up working with someone like Gio. When Morgan wanted to know more, Gio made it clear that Roman was one of the good guys.
That offered us some hope that he didn’t get involved in the dangerous and shady things. It did, however, have us worried that he would turn up dead. Karadec learning that Roman is still alive put a twist on this storyline.
It would suggest that Roman ended up in something dangerous. So, why would he stay away?
Did he stay away to protect his family in High Potential?
With all the good things that Morgan had said about Roman, it’s unlikely that Roman just left without considering her and Ava. This guy doesn’t sound like one who would just abandon his family.
There are three things that could have kept him away. The first is that he had no choice but to join some sort of gang. There’s a chance that there was a threat held over him, with someone threatening Morgan and Ava. If Gio knew about them, then others knew about them. Roman would have abandoned them for their own safety.
If he didn’t choose to abandon them, there’s a chance that Roman was taken by some bad people. Maybe he’s been held as a prisoner this whole time.
The third option is that he ended up in witness protection. This could have been why Soto struggled to find anything about him after he disappeared that night. It’s possible that he had to be taken and he’s never been able to get word out.
My money is on the first two options, but I would love to see the third one happen and explained.
