There is a lot to look forward to in January, especially when it comes to TV. Tuesday nights are about to return to normal on ABC, with Will Trent season 4 premiering in January 2026.

It was disappointing to hear that Will Trent season 4 wouldn’t premiere until the new year, but it was also a relief. You see, a consistent schedule makes for some great TV viewing. With a January start and around 18 episodes to the season, it means Will Trent gets to run largely uninterrupted, and that is a good thing for the ratings.

Good ratings will mean that ABC renews the show. So, it all ends up being a win. We’ll take the delayed start for all of that!

Meanwhile, Angie makes an unexpected discovery, and Ormewood continues to struggle with his diagnosis. TUESDAY, MAY 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Wilford Harewood) RAMÓN RODRIGUEZ

Will Trent season 4 premiere date

As we expected, Will Trent will kick off the new year in style. The first episode of season 4 will air on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and it will take over the 8/7c timeslot that made the third season so successful. Sure, this time, it’s going up against NCIS on CBS, but FBI pulled in stronger ratings, and if Will Trent could succeed against that, then it can succeed against NCIS.

Plus, let’s not forget that CBS won’t even bring its shows back in January! It’s holding off for after the Winter Olympics, so ABC has a good schedule going.

Tuesday nights are all about quirky crime dramas, as we expected. After Will Trent, we’ll get episodes of High Potential and then The Rookie, making for the perfect Tuesday night.

What to expect on Will Trent season 4

The teaser trailer for the fourth season is out, and it offers zero hints about the two characters we’re worried about. It’s clear that Will isn’t as “great” as he wants people to believe, and Betty is likely trying to tell us all of that. That’s all likely linked to the way Amanda’s life was left on the line at the end of season 3, after she was hit during the hostage situation.

Then there’s Ormewood, who collapsed during the final moments of the finale. That was likely linked to his brain tumor, but fortunately, Faith was there to hopefully get him the help he needs.

There is a dance video out that has us settled that everyone is coming back, though. All the series regulars are included in it. Yes, including the two very specific missing characters from the teaser trailer, so this would suggest that everyone will make it back!

Will Trent season 4 premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 8/7c on ABC.
