NCIS has a huge history that NCIS: Origins needs to follow, and so far, it has managed it. We have started off with younger versions of Gibbs, Franks, and Fornell, and the season ended with younger versions of Lara Macy and Diane. Does this mean more younger versions of characters we've come to know and love are coming?
One of the things about NCIS: Origins is that there's already a lot of canon to work through. The good news is that, for the most part, the show is sticking to that. However, there are a few issues here and there, such as the fact that Gibbs and Fornell didn't seem to know each other at first in NCIS and then it turned out they had backstory.

Look out for the Fed 5 in NCIS: Origins
There is one specific group of people fans will want to see appear at some point. It's all about the Fed 5, the LEOs who were first introduced in the NCIS: New Orleans backdoor pilot. We've met Gibbs and Franks in the prequel series, but what about the other three? We're still to meet a young Dwayne Pride, Felix Betts, and Dan McLane.
Well, worry not, as there is a chance that the quintet will be combined at some point in the prequel series. Co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal makes it clear to TVLine that following canon is important for them, and the writers are strict about it as they're going through the episodes.
“We always have our eye on canon. We have a big huge timeline in the writers room and we’re really strict about sticking to it. The canon matters to us, and we never want to ignore it. So, all the things that we’re seeing in canon, we will address one way or another.”
This doesn't necessarily mean that we'll see everyone on the screen, though. There's always a chance people will just be mentioned, with the team put together off-screen. When it comes to the Fed 5, we should see everyone, though.

Who we would like to see in NCIS: Origins season 2
Of course, there are some characters we would love to see show up more than others, and one of those is a young Hetty Lange. Wouldn't it be great to see how she rose up the ranks considering her stature would have likely been a hinderance in the '90s? There's also a young Ducky, as we get closer to him and Gibbs meeting and forming their friendship.
Maybe we could see a young DiNozzo or a young McGee. They would have been children, but just an instance of them seeing Gibbs at work or even just any of the NCIS team at work could have been enough to push them into law enforcement.
As of right now, the focus is on the canon, and as an NCIS fan, I appreciate that. There's a word of stories to tell in NCIS: Origins.
NCIS: Origins season 2 will air on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS in the fall.
