Nancy Drew pilot: Who killed Tiffany Hudson?
Nancy Drew opened up with a mystery: the death of Tiffany Hudson. While Nancy became the police’s main suspect, there are others with motives to kill her.
Nancy Drew premiered on The CW, bringing the books to life once more. It immediately brought us a mystery to solve for the start of the season. Who killed Tiffany Hudson?
The police have their eyes set on Nancy. After all, she is the one that found the body. We know better, just like the lead detective. There’s no way Nancy would kill someone—and why is it the person who finds the body immediately becomes the main suspect in a TV series?
Nancy has worked out that there are plenty of people with a motive to kill Tiffany. Just who could it have been? Here are the theories.
Nick is the initial suspect
It looks like Nick is the one that Nancy’s father believes could be the main suspect. He did have a major motive, after all.

Nick (Ned Nickerson is his full name) has a record. It turns out it’s more than just a little B&E, which is the standard for a teen drama. He was convicted of manslaughter, and it was Tiffany’s testimony that put him away.
I am impressed that he wasn’t behind bars considering it was manslaughter. I guess we’ll find out that full storyline in the coming episodes.
For me, it’s too obvious for him to be the killer. Plus, he’s a lead character, so it seems a little odd for it to be a lead.

George or Ryan could have done it for love
Another lead character who may be responsible for Tiffany’s murder is Georgia “George” Fan. As the manager at the diner, she would have had time to get away and do the murdering. She also clearly has a motive that Nancy doesn’t know about just yet.
George and Tiffany’s husband, Ryan, were having an affair. It’s clear that Ryan isn’t all that upset about his wife’s death, and he seems happy enough to carry on the affair.
Either George or Ryan could have opted to kill Tiffany to get her out of the way, allowing the two of them to be together. I doubt it will be George as she’s a lead character, but Ryan is certainly a main suspect.
Bess could have done it to steal the ring
Nancy noted that Tiffany’s ring was missing. We found out at the end of the Nancy Drew pilot that Bess had taken it. You see, Bess has a huge secret about her living situation. She’s not staying with a rich aunt after all. Bess is living in a trailer in the middle of nowhere.
Bess doesn’t seem like the type of person to kill someone. She barely wanted to get her hands dirty, but that could be a ruse to throw everyone off.
I get the feeling Bess is going to turn out to be some sort of grifter. She either stole the ring before Tiffany died or she found it afterward and took it. Either way, I don’t think Bess is the one that did the killing.

The ghost is sending a message
Let’s not overlook the supernatural element to Nancy Drew on The CW. It’s clear that there’s a ghost haunting the town, and Nancy got a video of that ghost close to Tiffany when she died. Is it possible that the ghost did the killing?
It would be extremely convenient for the ghost to have done the killing. I have a feeling that spirit was just there to send some sort of message, maybe to Nancy to get her to head to the attic and find the dress eventually.
One of Ryan’s men or enemies
We may not have officially met the suspect just yet. I get the feeling that Ryan has a few enemies around or that he can’t trust anyone in his mod. After all, those in powerful positions make enemies.
Is it possible that someone who wanted revenge against him or wanted to frame him killed his wife? That would make a lot of sense, allowing the show to wrap this specific storyline after the first few episodes and allow other mysteries to develop in town.
