The untitled female FBI drama has been approved with a severe penalty. This suggests that FOX will most definitely bring the pilot to series. The network has a strong belief that the series will be a worthwhile one.
So far, only the script has been picked up. The penalty will likely involve the script getting the pilot order. After that, the show will either definitely come to screens or the writers will be paid for a certain amount of scripts regardless of the show’s situation.
The Resident‘s creative team behind the series
The untitled female FBI drama has a strong creative team behind it. Those who created The Resident are behind the new show—a creative project that originally had another creative team behind it last year.
Jen Klein, supervising producer on The Resident, is writing the pilot script. Todd Hartham will be the executive producer and showrunner.
What the untitled drama will be about
FOX ordered a series based on Doug Stanton’s interviews of women in law enforcement last year. The series never got to the pilot script stage.
This time there’s more success, and the same source material will be used. Klein will write a pilot that involves four female FBI field agents in the Manhattan office. It’s a character-driven drama showing these four women dealing with their work, their personal lives, and why it’s so important for the four of them to stick together.
It sounds like there will be the odd moments of competitiveness like there are in any friendship group. However, these four women are supportive of each other, focused on building each other up instead of tearing each other down.
Meanwhile, we’ll get to see them working on their high-stake cases each week. We’ll likely have the mixture of procedural and serial elements to the story, but there’s still plenty of time for the creative team to work that out.
