Nancy Drew: Kennedy McMann and Scott Wolf talk about their characters and this iteration of the story
What can we expect from Kennedy McMann and Scott Wolf in Nancy Drew on The CW? Check out their interview at NYCC 2019 right here.
There are plenty of secrets among the teens in Nancy Drew but that’s not all. The parents have their secrets, which is something Scott Wolf teases during an interview at NYCC 2019.
Wolf and Kennedy McMann sat down with the press during the convention. They introduced their characters, giving us a few teases along the way. Of course, the secrets came up, but something that will be interesting is hearing that Carson Drew grew up in the small town of Horseshoe Bay. This could link us back to Lucy Sable and explain why the dress was found in the Drew attic in the closing moments of the pilot.

McMann shared a little about Nancy, who is derived from the original character in the books. This is a character who is a rebel with a cause. She stands up for something she believes in and is a “good” rule-breaker, if you can have that.

Something that McMann focuses on while describing her character is the personal trauma Nancy is facing. This is more than we’ve seen in previous iterations of Nancy Drew, helping this show stand out in ways other than the supernatural side of the story.
Wolf does bring up the fact that the books were written during a simpler time, a time when we had the “good guys” and the “bad guys.” The lines are starting to blur now, bringing a sense of reality to the story. While Nancy wants to do the right thing, there will be times she hurts other people. We’ve already seen some of that in the pilot, but it sounds like there’s far more to come.
