MacGyver Season 4 will premiere in February 2020 on CBS

Fans were upset that MacGyver Season 4 was held for the midseason. However, the show will be back before we know it, with a February release date.

MacGyver Season 4 didn’t premiere in the fall. It was upsetting for fans of the series. There is a silver lining, though, as we now have a return date for the series. The premiere airs in February 2020.

It still feels like forever away, right? There will be many other shows airing in January, so why is MacGyver being held a little later? This will be linked to the scheduling of other TV shows, especially now that CBS’ schedule is so packed that a lot of shows are on the move.

CBS shared the midseason premiere dates earlier this week and MacGyver Season 4 was one of those on the list. It’s going to take over its own timeslot, airing at 8 p.m. on Fridays from Feb. 7, 2020.

That does mean Hawaii Five-0 is moving to its later timeslot. Blue Bloods isn’t changing. Magnum PI is the show being benched for a short while just to get through the full season of MacGyver.

What’s not clear is how many episodes we’ll have. With it being a midseason show now, it’s highly likely that the show will have 13 episodes or so. This will see the series run into the start of May 2020, assuming no breaks. Magnum PI will air the rest of its second season after the finale of MacGyver.

While it’s disappointing that we’ve had to wait, holding to midseason has possibly been a good idea. The ratings were slipping during Season 3 and there were fears that it would be canceled. CBS clearly wants to keep the TV crime drama, and the best way to do that is to move it to a less competitive time of year.

Hey, at least it’s not like Blindspot. The fifth and final season of the NBC series is being held until the summer!
