NCIS: Ziva returns to seek Gibbs and the team’s help in first-look photos

Before NCIS enters its midseason break, former Special Agent Ziva David returns to seek assistance from Gibbs and his team of agents as teased in CBS’s new first-look photos.

When we last saw former NCIS Special Agent Ziva David (returning guest star Cote de Pablo), she enlisted the help of Gibbs (and later his team) in bringing down a dangerous terrorist group led by the woman responsible for keeping her away from those she loved all these years.

After the threat was seemingly neutralized, Gibbs attempted to convince Ziva to finally clue fellow former Special Agent Tony Dinozzo a call to reveal the truth. Rather than connect with her former love and come clean about being alive, though, Ziva informed Gibbs she had one more thing to do before she could safely reunite with her family. It was a mystery that perfectly set the stage for her next return and, after a short wait, fans can finally look forward to the next chapter in Ziva’s story.

As previously reported, Ziva is set to return in the Season 17 midseason finale, “The North Pole,” an episode which will finally shine a light on the unfinished business keeping Ziva from reuniting with Tony and their young daughter.

Upon her return, Ziva will once again turn to Gibbs and company for assistance in helping to resolve the mysterious “one thing” delaying her family reunion. Although CBS has remained mum in releasing any additional information surrounding Ziva’s unfinished business, the newly released first-look images from the episode offer a brief look into Ziva’s return.

Considering Ziva and several members of the team are seen wearing forensic gloves in the first-look images above, it seems like that the “one thing” teased in the episode description will at some point take an unexpected turn. Although there’s no telling what might lead the team to a crime scene, the images clearly indicate a crime scene visit could be the catalyst to Ziva’s plea for help.

Given how messy things got upon Ziva’s last return, it should be interesting to see whether Ziva might once again force Gibbs and company into a gray area in tending to certain matters off books. It will also be intriguing to see how the NCIS writers play their cards with the pacing of the storyline.

With the episode serving as the show’s midseason finale, we’ll likely have to wait until the new year to see how the story plays out meaning we could be in for a long holiday break. Let’s just hope the NCIS midseason finale will give us some answers to the burning questions surrounding Ziva’s mysterious secret before the hour’s end!
