When it comes to crime drama on TV, CBS knows how to deliver. And with its upcoming series, Tommy, it gives us more Edie Falco.
CBS knows what viewers want and apparently we want crime dramas. Not only does its schedule already include shows like SWAT and Magnum P.I., but we are also getting new series like FBI: Most Wanted and Tommy. And with each of these shows we get a combination of the stories we want and casts that draw us in.
With its upcoming series, Tommy, we see the return of Emmy Award-winning actress Edie Falco, who is heading back to our screens in 2020. And yes, we are excited by this news, but what do we know about this new crime drama?

According to Niagara Frontier Publications, Tommy is not only a procedural series but also a drama about politics and family. As part of this new show, Falco will take on the role of Abigail “Tommy” Thomas, a former NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for the LAPD.
Considering she is a true New Yorker in many ways, Abigail brings her “unflinching honesty” to her new role with the LAPD. She is also not afraid to play hardball when needed, and this will help her as she navigates the politics of her new community, even as she is also helping to protect national security and making sure law enforcement is running smoothly and effectively.
Joining Edie Falco as part of this cast we have Michael Chernus, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Adelaide Clemens, Joseph Lyle Taylor, David Fierro, Vladimir Caamaño, and Russell G. Jones.
Watching the first trailer released in May 2019, it is clear that Tommy is going to be about a no-nonsense woman with plenty of people waiting for her fail. And yet, her entire purpose is to uphold the law, protect the innocent, and make sure justice is being served.
This won’t be your typical crime drama and that is definitely what makes this an exciting new addition to the CBS lineup, especially on Thursday nights.

Tommy is set to premiere on Feb. 6, 2020 on CBS.
