We know Luca will return in SWAT Season 3. Now we know that there are some personal problems on their way. Could they be linked to the reason he’s out of action?

Luca hasn’t been part of SWAT Season 3 since mid-November, and it’s certainly been noticed. Fans had been concerned that he wasn’t coming back, but there was soon evidence to confirm that he would return in 2020. Now we get to know when along with a tease of a storyline involving him.

We’ll get to see Luca back on the Jan. 29 episode, according to TVLine‘s Inside Scoop. The episode is titled “Ekitai Rashku,” but it’s not clear just how Luca will return.

The last we heard, Luca was out with an injury. There was even concern that he wouldn’t return because of that injury. It sounds like it was a storyline written in to explain why Kenneth Johnson wasn’t in any of the episodes, but it could also be a link to a Luca-focused storyline coming up.

EP Aaron Rahsaan Thomas shares that during the second half of the season, Luca will face personal challenges that he’s never faced before. Could this be to do with the recovery period? Will we find out that he doesn’t feel as fit as us used to, struggling to fit in with the rest of the team?

Another possibility is that Luca’s food truck business is struggling. It is a great idea but there’s a lot of competition in the market. However, Hondo and the team have a lot of faith in him, buying shares in the business to get it afloat. Hopefully, this isn’t all going to blowback on all of them. I could see a little struggle, but I’d hope to see success for him like Herrmann’s success with Molly’s in Chicago Fire.

While there is still a lot that we don’t know, we have the great news that Luca will be back. More than that, we know we’re just waiting two more weeks to see him back on the team!
