2. Excellent guest stars

One of the cool things about CSI: Crime Scene Investigation that was overlooked sometimes was the caliber of guest stars that the show continuously had on. You can look back on the show now and see so many people who either were stars, or would go on to be even bigger stars. That’s also important in any revival for two reasons: fans will want to see actors who can hold their own with the main cast, and it’d also be really cool depending on who’s interested in coming—or even coming back.

Remember when Marg Helgenberger’s then-husband Alan Rosenberg played Catherine’s love interest? Or how excited we all got when Melinda Clarke reprised her role as Lady Heather in the original finale “Immortality”? And before Liev Schreiber was known as Ray Donovan, he delivered a great multi-episode arc as Michael Keppler on CSI (he’s dead, too, but again there are ways to work around that).

A lot of great actors popped up in guest roles, and could be re-used again playing different parts or even just making quick cameos. Among the famous faces who have episodes to their credit are Mark Valley, Jeremy Renner, Eric Stonestreet, Aldis Hodge, Nicholas Lea and Aisha Tyler—just to name a few. It could be entertaining as heck to have somebody be the “new receptionist” at the office and we recognize them from an earlier guest appearance!

Since the point of the limited series is to focus on the anniversary, it doesn’t sound likely or even the best idea to include characters from the spinoff series or who came on as regulars in the later seasons. The focus should be on the people who started it all. That being said, if somebody got Ted Danson to pop his head back in as D.B. Russell and worked in an in-joke from The Good Place, we don’t think many people would complain.
