Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector hasn’t quite got rid of the TV crime drama cliches. The show slipped up in Episode 6 with a predictable storyline.

Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector hasn’t been completely free of cliches. Part of that doesn’t help being a book adaptation, but the show hasn’t exactly stuck to the storylines. There was some hope that the series would take a step away from some of the major cliches, but the most recent episode proves otherwise.

This is where the series may just lose fans. Aren’t we fed up of TV crime dramas allowing characters make ridiculous mistakes?

It’s all about the Bone Collector’s wife

More from TV Crime Dramas

We knew that the Bone Collector’s wife would find out what her husband was up to. I had a small glimmer of hope that she would be smart. If it was me, I’d take the evidence to the cops and start the process to get him arrested. Wouldn’t that have made a better storyline considering he’s already unraveling?

Instead, she did what every character seems to do when they find out dangerous information. She called her husband and confronted him. It’s Ned Stark-level of stupid.

Why would someone do that? It creates drama for a show, but it’s not the most ingenious or realistic of storylines. It’s overly predictable and adds yet another cliche to the series.

She can’t possibly make it out alive

Now it’s clear that the Bone Collector needs to cover his tracks. He can’t possibly trust that his wife won’t turn him in. She doesn’t have a stake in this, except for losing her husband. However, his actions have already caused her to want to leave.

The promo for Episode 7 makes it clear that the wife is going to become the next victim. There’s nothing else he can do. It’s now become too predictable.

I would have loved her turn to Lincoln Rhyme with the proof, allowing him to learn who the Bone Collector is. For the next four episodes, we would have a real cat and mouse game, especially once the Bone Collector knew his wife had learned the truth.

The Lincoln Rhyme writers have fallen back on a cliche that has never made sense to me. It makes the wife look weak, like a stupid little woman who needs her husband and is willing to make stupid decisions in some sort of attempt to get answers or save her marriage. If she really needed answers, she could wait for him to be behind bars and talk to him in a visiting area.

Next. Is this the beginning of the end for the Bone Collector?. dark
