Hawaii Five-0’s series finale was going to air as a two-hour special. With March Madness canceled, CBS has opted for a change to the series finale release.

Due to March Madness, the original plan was to air Hawaii Five-0‘s series finale as a two-hour special in April. That’s changing to spread out the airing of new episodes on the network.

March Madness was canceled due to the spread of coronavirus. Since then, multiple TV shows have shut down production, including most of CBS’s shows. There’s no need to worry about the filming of the Hawaii Five-0 series finale. The final two episodes are ready, but there is a small change to the way they’ll be released.

More from Hawaii Five-0 News

The show was originally going to take a break for March Madness. This is standard this time of year, but CBS needs original programming. So, Mar. 27 will now see one of the episodes air in the usual 9/8c slot. Then the final episode of the series will air on Apr. 3 as planned.

There’s still no word on exactly who will return for the series finale from the original cast. Fans hope to see Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim, but neither are likely to return.

This also means that new episodes of MacGyver will air both of these weeks. This show was originally going to be on a break until Apr. 10 to allow for the series finale. However, the show will now air new episodes on both Mar. 27 and Apr. 3. Magnum PI Season 2 will then return on Apr. 10 to air in the hour after MacGyver.

Blue Bloods will air a rerun on Mar. 27. New episodes start back on Apr. 3 as previously planned.

None of the Friday night TV crime dramas seem to have been affected by the production shutdowns just yet. This could change for those still in the middle of filming the final episodes. The coronavirus situation changes every day, and we’ll bring the latest updates as soon as we have them.

Hawaii Five-0’s series finale will now air an episode on Mar. 27 and then another on Apr. 3 instead of the two-hour special on Apr. 3.
