BritBox has set the date for a new Keeley Hawes TV crime drama. Honour will hit the streaming service in the fall. Here’s everything we know so far.

We fell in love with her in Bodyguard, and now it’s time to see Keeley Hawes in another TV crime drama. She stars in Honour, a new BritBox original series that will premiere in the fall.

There’s some great news for those worried about production shutdowns. The entire series has already filmed. There’s no need to worry about any dates being pushed back. All BritBox and co-producer ITV have been waiting for is the perfect placement in the series.

Honour is an important series for the current climate and is based on a true story. Keeley Hawes stars as DCI Caroline Goode, who is focused on getting justice for Banaz Mahmon, a woman in London who was killed by her family over a relationship the family deemed shameful. Not only does DCI Goode have to deal with the story about the family, but she learns that Banaz had made five separate reports about her life being in danger and Goode’s colleagues did nothing to help.

It’s not often a show will touch the subject of “honor killings.” However, Vanity Fair‘s Gwyneth Hughes and Mrs Wilsons Richard Laxton have taken on the writing and directing respectively for the series. The series doesn’t just help to keep Banaz’s memory alive, but it puts the focus on problems within the UK and around the world, often situations that are overlooked or shied away from.

Honour is a limited series. There are no plans to bring a second season. Of course, we know what limited series creators can be like. Big Little Lies was supposed to be a limited series but there was a beautiful story to follow on from the events of the book. As this is a co-production with a British studio, I’d hazard a guess that this will remain a limited series.

Keeley Hawes has executive produced the series through her company Buddy Club. This is the first production from the company and is in conjunction with Hera Pictures.

We will have to wait until October 2020 for Honour on BritBox. It’s certainly going to be worth the wait.
