We’re looking ahead at things to come in various TV shows. Law & Order: SVU Season 22 is one of them, with showrunner Warren Leight hinting at big storylines.

We know that Chris Meloni is reprising the role of Elliot Stabler in a Law & Order spin-off, but that’s not going to be the first time we see him back on our screens. He’ll be in the Law & Order: SVU Season 22 premiere, and that’s not all showrunner Warren Leight has to say.

While the season premiere (and the focus for the start of the season) is still being written and planned, the great news is that we know it will definitely happen. NBC recently renewed the series for three more seasons, so we know we have up to Season 23.

Storylines for the season

However, the focus is on the start of Season 22, which can’t film but the writers can work virtually. According to TVLine, there are some storylines in the works.

The original Season 21 finale was going to see Elliot’s wife and son return. We weren’t going to get to see Elliot though. Things are now shifting with Elliot and his wife back on our screens together. Kathy Stabler is back because she needs help. She thinks her son has been drugged by a gang and wants to get him back.

Something that we’ll get to find out is what happened to the family when Elliot left. Not only did he retire from the force, but we found out he seemingly left his family. That didn’t sit right with fans, so now we get to see what really happened. It doesn’t sound like it’s a happy story, though.

That’s not all we can expect. We’ll also get to revisit a major story for Olivia. Remember when her brother overdosed and died? Well, it turns out it may not have been an overdose. We had a feeling, right? Law & Order: SVU is going to look into this death.

Crossovers happening?

Something Leight wouldn’t (and probably couldn’t) talk about was crossovers between the two Law & Order shows. There are likely some crossovers planned. After all, Elliot and Olivia worked together for years. Once they’re back in each other’s lives, they’re going to turn to each other again, right?

Leight needs to figure out how often they’ll run into each other. It doesn’t sound like we’ll get something like Station 19, where Grey’s Anatomy characters show up almost every episode. We may get something like the FBI shows or something like the One Chicago series, where there are crossovers between teams now and then with a bigger crossover happening once per year.
