Who can possibly help Layton on Snowpiercer now?
Will anyone notice something has happened to Layton on Snowpiercer?
Caution: There are major spoilers for the end of Snowpiercer Season 1, Episode 4 in this post.
One thing I will never understand is why someone who knows of a secret will tell the person who is keeping the secret. At least, not without making sure someone else knows first. And yet, Andre Layton fell into that trap on Snowpiercer Season 1, Episode 4.
After catching the murderer, he made it clear that he knows Melanie’s secret. We knew he’d figure it out eventually. He’s damn good at his job. However, someone might want to tell him to have insurance because he revealed it all to Melanie.
As she realized that Layton knew the truth, she decided she had to take drastic measures. She’s drugged him and put him in a drawer.
Will anyone miss Layton on Snowpiercer?

Of course, people will miss him. Josie will, especially, considering her current feelings for him. But will she notice that he’s missing to be able to help?
With Layton somewhere Up Train, Josie doesn’t get to know what he’s doing. For all the Tail knows, Layton is still finding out who the murderer is. Or he’s taken advantage of succeeding at the case and has decided to remain in Third with Zarah.
Won’t Third know that he’s not around? Third could be told that he was taken by to the Tail. It really is a simple lie that couldn’t be checked on between the passengers.
Till is the only one who would probably notice something isn’t right. She’d spend time dealing with those in the Tail and will know he’s not there. Yet, she’d surely know if he remained in Third. Till and Layton, as you would have expected, built a friendship during their case together.
Someone needs to spread the news
Somehow, the news that Layton isn’t in either Third or the Tail will need to spread around. That’s Layton’s only hope. But how can that happen?
Josie has managed to get to Third. It’s possible that she and people there could spread messages. All she has to do is tell someone like Zarah that Layton isn’t in the Tail and Zarah tell her that he isn’t in Third for them to realize that something is wrong. Then they could get a message to Till in some way.
The three of them together? Could they make a team to unravel the conspiracy and find out where Layton is being kept? Is there any hope?
While I was surprised the murder case was wrapped up quickly on Snowpiercer Season 1, it’s clear that there’s more to unravel. There’s a bigger conspiracy, and it’s going to take the Tail and Third working together to find Layton and reveal Melanie’s secret.
